Arachnoiditis
Arachnoiditis is a neurological condition that causes pain in the back, neck, arms, feet, and in the perineum (the space between the genitals and the rectum). It also affects vision, sight, and mobility of a person. Arachnoiditis occurs when the arachnoid is damaged.
When you experience pain or discomfort due to inflammation of the arachnoid that is called Arachnoiditis. The Arachnoid is a layer that encompasses and secures the nerves and the spinal cord. Arachnoiditis occurs when the arachnoid is hurt. The work of Arachnoid is to monitor the nerves and the spinal line but when this security is harmed and the nerves neglect to work effectively, they linger together and trigger immense pain.
The main cause of Arachnoiditis is an accident or an injury. However, some reports have shown that it can be genetic also, yet, many people got arachnoid because of some damage to the spine. If immediate medical help is not provided to the patient arachnoiditis can even paralyze the patient’s legs.
Causes of Arachnoiditis
The primary cause of Arachnoiditis is the inflammation of the arachnoid which can lead to the formation of scar tissue that makes the spinal nerve stick and cause pain. The inflammation can happen due to the following reason:
- Spinal cord surgery
- Spine infection
- Myelography (when a dye is infused into the spinal column)
- Physical injury to the spine
- Cancer in or around the spine
- Chronic compression of spinal nerves
- Chemicals
Spinal injury is also considered one of the main causes of Arachnoiditis, especially during spinal surgery. Over 60% of people get Arachnoiditis after having spinal surgery.
Symptoms of Arachnoiditis
There is no specific pattern of symptoms, people experience different symptoms however Arachnoiditis in most people affects the lower back and legs and its most obvious symptom is pain. The other common symptoms are:
- changes in vision
- Joint pain
- Muscle pain
- Nerve pain
- Unusual sensations
- Ringing in the ears
- Muscle weakness
- Changes in Hearing
People affected with Arachnoiditis can also experience these uncommon symptoms like:
- Swelling of the brain
- Failure in sweating
- Uncontrollable body movement
- Urinary problems
- Migrans
- Fatigue
Symptoms may turn out to be increasingly extreme or even permanent if not treated. Numerous individuals with arachnoiditis can't work due to deadly pain.

My wife and I have both been treated by Dr. Solt with stem cell injections in both knees for deteriorated cartilage during 2019. We also received IV injections of our own stem cells as well to treat fibromyalgia (wife) and osteoarthritus (husband).
