Platelet Rich Plasma
“Platelet Rich Plasma, Plays a key role in the body’s natural healing process” ~Dr. Solt
What is Platelet Rich Plasma?
Platelet rich plasma (aka PRP) therapy is a form of regenerative medicine that harnesses the natural growth factors present in your blood.
The whole process is no more difficult than a simple blood draw, and we only take around 1/10th of what you would give in a blood donation. The whole procedure can be done within an hour. We can treat various parts of the body and many various ailments, as you will see below. Ultrasound imaging is often used to guide the injection.
How Do Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections Work?
PRP is a concentration of all the healing factors present in your blood, such as cytokines and growth factors. By strategically applying it to areas of the body that require healing, we can cause dramatic regeneration and healing.
What Can Platelet-Rich Plasma Treat?
PRP injections are used to treat various concerns. They fall under 3 main categories:
PRP contains high levels of platelets and when injected into tissue, growth factors are released, which are vital for tissue healing and repair. Tissue that is aged and damaged usually shows poor texture, wrinkles, sagging, and an uneven tone. Patients that want a natural appearance are increasingly recognizing PRP as a useful natural intervention to aid tissue and collagen stimulation.
PRP has shown improvement in:
- Wrinkled skin on the neck and décolletage
- Aging of the hands
- Lines and puffiness around the eyes
- Rejuvenation of lips
- Acne scars
- Stretch marks
- Hair loss – Significant results for hair restoration
- Scar revision & stretch marks
PRP has also been demonstrated to improve function and reduce pain in people who have musculoskeletal disorders such as:
- Tendonitis or chronic tendinosis conditions such as tennis elbow or golfer’s elbow
- Knee pain, such as arthritis or ligament tears
- Hip issues, such as bursitis or arthritis
- Shoulder damage, such as rotator cuff tears, arthritis, or bone spurs
- Spinal concerns, such as neck and low back degeneration, stenosis, or radiculopathy
- Other smaller joints such as ankles, hands, wrists, and more!
Sexual dysfunction can affect any age, although it is more common in those over 40 because it is often related to a decline in health associated with aging. It is important to first determine if you are a good candidate for treatment, and sometimes that means investigating the root cause of why the sexual dysfunction is happening in the first place, before pursuing an injection. Oftentimes this involves looking at hormone levels (in men and women), stress response, medication usage, and any underlying conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, thyroid issues, or autoimmune disorders.
PRP can be applied to both male and female sexual organs to help with conditions such as erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, vulvodynia, lichen sclerosis, or difficulty with arousal and orgasm, to name a few.
PRP can help in restoring general sexual function, performance, and orgasm. The benefits of this treatment on sexual performance may be attributed to increased blood
